I am currently working on a dance project called Cre8 as happily invited back to choreograph a piece for the 3rd year students. We will be creating a piece called Wave after Wave with the music from Kate Bush's album called Hounds of Love, which was inspired by Alfred Tennyson's poem The Coming of Arthur and Ivan Aivazovsky's painting The Ninth Wave. Collaborating the music, poem and painting, I am thrilled to be working with the students at Bird College to create this piece.

Synergy

The story and creation of Synergy. My inspiration for Synergy was astrology, the big bang, how the planet is in danger and the climate crisis. With Musa Motha playing the role of an astrologer sending a message to the future after a discovered time capsule. Warning we need to renew the energy of our life and health. With Deaf and Disabled dancers creating this educational and inspirational piece each character plays a role of a different planet (Mars, Jupiter etc). Which tells a different story through our own personal experiences and  the struggles we faced during the pandemic.  Our communication, mental health and access support. On your own it can be very isolating and your energy can become low. So when they all come together as a community the energy builds around them forming a Synergy. When they join through spirit to discover a new planet which symbolizes hope for a better future.

We collaborated with Arts Center South Africa Sibikwa to create Synergy 2.0. Me and some of the cast flew to South Africa to work with a new cast of Deaf and Disabled dancers. Taking the original storyline and recreating a different version with the dancers for their own stories. We took the impact of Load Shedding in South Africa and cooperated  that into the performance. It was so interesting to discover the black out (power cuts) they had to face for 10 years. And took these events and made a creative response. Synergy 2.0 performed in Cape town, Arts Center and Marketplace.

Synergy has some amazing partnerships with Without Walls, Black Country Dance Hub, Arts  Council, Birmingham Hippodrome, Attenborough Arts Centre, Bird College, Sibikwa Arts  Centre and Greenwich + Dockland International Festival. Synergy performed at  Birmingham Weekender and GDIF's Dancing City.

Royal Variety Performance

The Little Big Things cast got asked to perform at The Royal Variety Show 2024. They performed the song "The World Is Waiting For You" written by Nick Butcher and Tom Ling. Being asked to perform for the Royal Family showed how much of a triumph the musical was and I was delighted to be a part of such a wonderful experience.

MGCfutures Bursary

I was delighted to receive an award to be one of the recipients of The MGCfutures Bursary 2022.

MGCfutures Bursaries exist to support theatre practitioners to develop their careers in the industry.

The bursary assisted me to take a new direction as a Theatre Director. The bursary gave me the opportunity to undertake research & development on becoming a Theatre Director where I had been observing Directors working in rehearsal and gaining their experience and advice about directing. I have been doing R&D workshop where I directed a play with two actors (Deaf & Hearing) and presented a sharing with a small invited audience at the end of the week. MGC's Artistic Director - Michael Grandage agreed to be my mentor for this project.
